Report:

The workshop was aimed at introducing the participants of Youth Fellowship Projects to the task of condensing their research conclusions in the form of a small 1 minute film.
Savitri began by asking the participants to briefly explain their projects and the rationale of making a short film as the end-product.
Then she described the process of film making in detail – all the tasks they would have to undertake before the shooting (pre-production), during the shooting and after the shooting (post-production).
She screened examples of various types of short films and encouraged the participants to think over their projects. She also discussed the budget in detail. She informed them about the costs of hiring equipment and studios as well as hiring trained personnel for shooting, editing and sound recording. The exercise helped participants to decide about practicability of crafting a film as an end product of their research.
Many of the participants decided not to produce a film in the available time and resources. The slideshow format seemed to appeal more to the participants as it appeared low-cost and could be done with little technical know-how.
